Krishnan Kundhu

Krishnan Kundhu is a freedom fighter born in Madurai in the year XXXX. He was making good earnings through his gold jewellery making unit.

He was the first person from Sourashtra community to join congress, jailed four times and spent all his life time earnings for the freedom struggle. He actively participated in the self reliant, labour movement, Sathyagraha growth, non-cooperative movement and individual disobedience of law. In the early days of 1918, he used work on Sudesi prachar sabha. He has spent a lot of his personal belongings towards the movement. He has worked towards the betterment of Sourashtra community. In the year 1932, his wife Kunthu Subbulakshmi alias Visalakshi also participated in the ‘law disobedient movement’ and was jailed. During the 21 days fasting of Mahtma in support of Harijan, Krishnan Kundhu along with several other freedom fighters in Madurai, worked towards free interactions with Harijan and promoted public to adopt. He was associated with Sri Bharathasrmak group and moved all around Tamil Nadu. In the year 1931, during Gandhi Irwin agreement implementation, he has implemented several development plans successfully. He has worked alongside NMR Subburaman He became unwell after he was jailed for ‘disobedient of law’ in the year XXXX. He died in the year same year.
